Staging Witchcraft Before The Law

Early modern witchhunting faced skepticism and evidentiary barriers making it difficult to convict witches. Judges and accusers used performance staging to overcome these barriers. This Element examines two cases to illustrate ways evidentiary staging can signify in law.
